Tranditional patterns.. sigh

Sarge, don't give up just yet. Once folk's get all the one hand
wonders out of their system they will "Discover" the beauty / praticality
of the traditional knives. I'm really amazed that these souless black one hand
wonders are so popular.

Tightwad, my frugal friend, I had the same angst in the military, when I had to give up my M-14 for the plastic toy made by matell. Have I dated myself here, or what?

Sgt.,
I'm not sure how we didn't get the word to you, but we got PLENTY of traditional folders in the line....the above mentioned YELLOWJACKETS are still in the line, and still on our website. Pic below...

The RIMFIRE CLASSIC line was discountinued due to lack of sales, but if you look around, they are still fairly easy to find.

Our website is www.camillusknives.com

Thanks for the intereset!

Sgt.Strawberry,

I've had the good fortune to find three old Camillus knives at antique stores in the last few months. They really re-kindled my interested in Camillus's traditional knives, and I plan on adding some of the newer models as time and money allow. I do wish that the yellow-jacket line had carbon steel as an option. And the "cartridge series" and "rimfire classics" are a pretty cool bunch of knives. Oh, yeah, I like the old shield they used to use, too. :) Traditional knives rock!

camillus is reincarnating the OVB brand, which is traditional patterns and materials. wood and bone, instead of g10 and micarta, carbon steels instead of super stainless steels, and nail nicks and stud sheaths instead of thumb studs and kydex...

will, can you tell us if you have any folders planned for OVB yet,or shall it remain a mystery for us mere mortals?

-mo.

I also very much prefer the tradional style and materials, though I don't mind a well done stainless as I use my collection often (a-knife-a-day rotation and light use keeps the corrosion devil at bay.

I'll put in a vote for a sunfish or elephant's toenail. I'll bet Camillus would do a great one. There are only a few out there new, and next to none old ones... I guess it's Case (hard to find and weird-green bone only to my knowledge), Queen (as Schatt & Morgan)with a baby sunfish (nice) and Winchester (not too good from what I've seen) only.

There are other patterns one seldom sees as well, I'll bet. Any thoughts on the odd but old ?

I used to use one of the Rimfire Classic Muscrats as one of my main skinning knives...coon skinning knives, that is.

It performed very well. I still like it today.

Mo,
we don't have any specific plans at this time...remember, we haven't delivered the FIRST OVB knife yet:rolleyes: .....

But don't worry, I'll let you in on the secret REALLY early on the future OVB's...just like I did with the CUDA MAXX 5.5;)

Thanks for the interest Guys!

Mmmmmm.... A Wharncliffe whittler. If Camillus made one of those, I might even give Will a break on making the large-size EDC. ;)

You're absolutely on the money, Sarge, regarding those classic old patterns. I recently found a three-blade stockman with green/red "end-of-the-day" handles and the old Camillus tang stamp at a second-hand store. Got a decent deal on a really clean old knife. But I have yet to find one of the "Rimfire" series. Sure wish the company would reintroduce them.
