I saw this over in the exchange and I was wondering if we might consider a “Market” thread here like the photo thread.

As a new guy I stay away from the secondary market because I have no idea what the knives are worth to anyone but me.

I know all the classic responses to the question of how much a knife is worth and I’m not looking discuss that; but is there any interest in this here, or maybe over on the Busse.com forum?

I have not given the pros and cons any thought so I’m not saying it is a great idea… just that it came to mind.

I did a search on this to see if it has come up before but the search function is so bad that all I get is a blank screen:mad:.

Regards,
Tony

Here's your first reference. It was for a 1 of 300 BM.

I was waiting for this one to come up in the for sale forum!!!!!! I was ready to pay ONE MEE-LLION DOLLARS (a la dr. evil)

 :D

Tony, I wouldn't worry about buying from the secondary market around here. For two reasons. 1- most everyone around here is more than fair and only sells one Busse piece to fund another. 2- If you don't grab it quick, It's GONE!!!

On the 1 of 6-

I was going to offer one week per year for 5 years at my summer home in the California wine country. Hell I never use it in January anyway.

Also it would have been a great place to bring his Busses... he could have hacked away at a half acre of black berries.

I find the for sale forum a great reference. If you know what you are interested in do a search on the for sale forum and get some idea what they are going for.

Another option, (I know I've helped in this manner in the past) email some of the HOG's and ask them what their opinions on condition and price are certain models you may be interested in. I don't know of any HOG's that would refuse to help you if you asked for help

Tony, I am sorry about that.

Hey guys, I am sorry if there was any issue over this. I received a ton of emails and PM's for this thing when I was considering gettng rid of it. So I posted it on the trade forum to be fair. Three people responded within 5 minutes (one via PM only and one via direct email) I picked the quickest one first. The offer was fair. I have had emails since with rediculous sky high offers. I would have felt bad even accepting some of the offers. I did this for two reasons, I had two old ones and I knew there was a host of people that wanted one. I felt this was the best way to do it. I could have just made it disappear without ever posting it like most things happen these days. But I didn't. I know the knife went to a good home. It was one of my baby's and it hurt to ship it. Just like it hurt when I shipped doc my favorite SHSH. I got that one back, which made me happy as it is not going anywhere now.

Doc was quickest on the draw. Him and a few others have been pestering me about an SHBM. Well there it went. and not just any SHBM.

so there it is.

The problem with that is most people seem to edit out the selling price after they're gone, so it's hard to do a search and find a reference.

just ask me how much your SFNO is worth and I'd say about 100 bucks, but beng the giver I am I'll give you 200 bucks

Good God,

There is nothing to be sorry about. It found a great home and has lifetime medical now. A knife that old will need it!

I'll let you come chop up black berries anyway...

Actually very few edit the prices out, some do, but most don't. (I just pulled up the last 6 months of HD/AD's listed and all 5 of the first 5 I checked still had the asking price in them)

And if you consider that this more of a problem you can do what I do. I go through the for sale posts ever day and copy and paste the listings so that I have a copy of everything that sold and the asking price.

If you still have a concern after checking the old for sale posts email someone and ask. As I said I've helped people with this in the past and I'd be more than happy to in the future. I don't tell anyone to buy, but I will give you advice on what I'd do if I were interested in that model.

I have asked Hogs about various things about certain INFI blades, and they ALL were more than happy to answer my questions.. :)

WOW, Eric. You have every posted picture saved and all the sale prices of Busses in the exchange forum? You must have a TON of data.

Wow, maybe I should put mine up for trade and see if I can get some ridiculous offers! Maybe I'll just start a "Should I entertain ridiculous offers for my 1 of 300 SHBM" thread instead, HMMMMMMM???????

you need to use the advanced search, there is so much info that any search not specific enough will overload the engine. It works for me every time.

This topic has come up before, and it is annoying to have prices deleted.

It doesn't work that way for me. I still get a blank screen when I do searches. Sometimes I don't get results when I'm too specific.

Blank screen almost every time... same thing happens to me. in either advanced or standared.

I've emailed BF about it... first one was bounced back with an error msg, sent it off again and waiting for a reply.
