Hey Guys....

I'm starting to get a nice collection of family movies on mini DV tape..
Those tapes are getting expensive,, and I don't want to wear out the camera viewing them,,so I want to transfer to DVD..

The camera is a new Canon and has Firewire..

All I need is a DVD recorder with Firewire,, however I lost the instruction manual for the camera..

How do I transfer via firewire ??

Will a menu kick in when I plug the firewire in ??

I understand that this transfers at fairly high speed,, and can't find any firewire controls,,so I'm hoping a menu will come up...

Any suggestions ??

No expert here, but I believe that you need software to begin downloading video. I use MS Movie Maker, its free. Hopefully a more savvy person will weigh in.

Hi heysox...

Thanks for the input...

I guess I should have been a little more specific...

I want to burn directly to a DVR,, not through a DVD burner on a computer...

A stand alone unit if you will..

Thanks

What kind of computer do you have? most xp or 2000 or OSX have built in programs to connect to dv camcorders and import the video and view it. DVD burning is cheap now you can buy a dual layer burner for around 69.00 cdn and then your in business. If you need more help or want to ask me questions, send me email at fmbarron @ rogers . com
