Hi all. My next purchase will be a Trapper. I've been surfing Case Red Bone CV and Boker ... I "am not" interested in stainless steel. I have a few Case's in CV and am more than happy! The thing is, I have never had a Boker. This will be a full sized Trapper (4"+) and be a part of my EDC's. My knives see lots of heavy use (not abuse). I guess the question is, should I stick with what I know and trust (Case CV) or is Boker just as good or better? Thank you all in advance, Matt

IMHO, you just cannot beat a Case Trapper. And I've owned and used both.

Best,

Anthony

i love my amber bone trapper in CV. cant be beat im thinkin. but boker makes great knives too. do you want american or german you need to ask urself.

What is the heavy use your knives see? Are you going to use different edge configurations of the blades?

Can't go wrong with Case CV that's for sure.

Case is EXCELLENT for the money. If you are looking for something more, look at Queen. You get D2, a tool steel, which will take and hold and edge longer than carbon steel. Queen F&F is excellent, but you need to be good at re-beveling the edges (usually), but Queen knives work and work. The Amber Carved Bone Stag is a beautiful scale choice if you are so inclined.

Böker makes a decent knife for sure, although I don't have one of their Trappers, the pattern is too big for my taste.

CASE makes a well proven product with excellent choice.

I purchased a Boker trapper new about three years ago. Fine knife, nothing wrong with it. But I traded it here on the forums for a yellow Case cv trapper and I'm glad I did. If I were in your shoes, I'd buy an amber bone cv trapper from Case, no question.

I have both Case and Boker trappers and like them both very well. The Boker is a little thinner over all with thinner blades and a little more belly on the spey.
My favorite trapper is my Case 3254 but I like my Boker with black delrin scales alot as well. I think you would be happy with either one but my best advice is to get one of each.;)

i bought a yellow handled case trapper in CV and it was a good knife. i ended up trading it for a boker in the same size, but with jigged bone. i noticed that the springs were a tiny bit weaker on the boker, but they were still plenty strong. i also noticed that the edges of the boker were rather thick, whereas the case came thin and pretty sharp.

i ended up trading the boker away too...the trapper pattern just isn't for me.

mn, good to hear you are still liking it.

I just picked up a Case XX Trapper in amber bone. Beautiful knife! Very sharp out of the box. Very happy with this knife.
