I always thought trappers had two blades, typically a clip point and a spey. They came in small, large, and jumbo, but always with those two blades.

Seems like there are a good number are shown online with a single clip point and called a “trapper.”

Is the term changing or has it always included single blades?

I’m am just coming back to traditionals after being away for too long. So catching up.

Thanks.

I consider a trapper to be a large knife with a clip and a spey on the same end. If it is different, it has to be qualified; e.g., "single-blade trapper," "mini-trapper," etc.
