Has anyone taken a normal two blade trapper knife and removed the Spey blade for a single blade trapper? I know I could just go buy a Case slimline but humor me. Im on a fairly tight budget and really like the rough rider armor hide series of knives. I found out they make it in the trapper frame and I'm thinking of getting one with the purpose of making it into a single blade trapper. Just curious, has anyone done this before and if so, how did it turn out?

I did this with a RR trapper. Went from this:

As you can see, the peening wasn't perfect. The knife opens nicely, but is a bit lazy when closing. It was a fun project, though. Using Rough Riders, there's very little risk involved. I'd say go for it.
