Hi all!

I've tried to look with very little success size comparision with Regular trapper and mini trapper. I am looking Wharncliffe trapper and I've find few, regular sized and mini trappers.

How does Mini trapper compeares against peanut?

I am looking Wharncliffed trapper knife that is bigger than peanut. If mini trapper is bigger than peanut that gives me even more options. I find Texas jack or medium stockman size to be good carrier size. Peanut is good but I would like something bigger.

Hi,

I have two mini-Trappers. They are a China made Buck and a Rough Rider. Both are about 3 5/8" closed. A quick check shows Case mini's are 3 1/2". So they are bigger than Peanuts by a fair bit. The size is right around my sweet spot.

The mini trapper is longer than a peanut, it is also bigger in all other dimensions .... I prefer the mini over the full size. It carries well in pocket, and feels like a bigger knife than it is. It is personal preference, but I always found the full size trapper to be a little to much for edc.
I have big hands and find the mini to fit nicely. I don't think you would be disappointed if you get one. YMMV

Thank you both. I checked the available models are regular trapper and tiny trapper. Mini trapper from case would have been perfect but its $ 17+ more expnesive where I can get than regular trapper other place.

Regular is 4 1/8" and tiny was 2 3/8"? Sucks that the mini trapper is not available for reasonable (keeping price under tolling limit)prices in fleabay... It would have been perfect. Perhaps I should invest then bit more and get Swayback jack?

If you like the 3 1/2 size the minitrapper is a nice choice. When I think about this kind of things price come into consideration but not to the point I shose another size just because of price. I suggest that you think about this before bying something different than you want just because of price. Just how I think in a simular situation. I have a mini case cv that I like a lot. Much knife in medium package.

That is odd that the mini is higher in price .. Personally I would pay the difference and get what you really want..

I can't give an honest opinion on the swaybacks, as I've never had one or even looked at one in person, but a lot of folks on here seem to really like them.

Not too many carry the trapper I want in fleabay as I want Wharncliffe trapper. Few that ship world wide have $26+ Shipping + $64 price on mini = over customs limit.

for regular wharnie trapper its $46+$16 shipping...

And wharnie trappers are limited release... *sighs*

If you're looking for a Trapper of a similar size to the Peanut, I think you're thinking of the tiny Trapper. I believe those are about 2.75" or so. The mini Trapper's kind of a misnomer in that it's not really a "mini" knife. I believe a mini-Trapper's typically 3.5" vs a typical trapper being 4 1/8".

Personally, I prefer the size of the mini Trapper as I find it easier & more comfortable to pocket carry than a full size Trapper.

thejamppa,
Here are some images of the knives you are considering. I've been carrying the large warncliffe and peanut for some time now. It may be hard to beleive but I use the trapper for most of my needs. I wear scrub pants at work and it really doesnt bother me to be in my pocket, the only draw back is you can notice the outline at times, but no complaints yet.
I hope the images help, sorry I'm not a top rate photographer.

What's that little one in the middle in the picture on the left?

I just ordered one of those and in glad I did. It looks great. I just wish I would have gone with the Tangerine color like the one pictured but I guess I can get that on my next one.

Thank you lamech. Seems like regular wharnie trapper is nice work knife to take among more sheeple people. I've never liked trapper with spey blade. That looked so... unuseful but with wharncliffe, that's whole another matter.

Steelsnob, Voltron is correct the middle knife is a Case tiny trapper.
Thejamppa you are welcome. If you decide to go with the large trapper you will be very pleased. I use the warncliffe blade for alot of different tasks at home and at work. A very useful blade. You can't go wrong in my opinion.

You mentioned a Case Swayback Jack. I've got two of them and they make a great EDC. At 3 1/5" they disappear in your pocket but are large enough for most of my everyday uses.

This one has the Truesharp stainless. I don't have a pic of my CV but it is a beauty also.

Yeah, Swayback jack is another pattern I will get eventually this year. Bermuda green SS or Chestnut brown CV. That's tough choice.
