This seam to be the place for a little wondering about my favorite trapper. It is a Remington bullet baby trapper marked 1991 on the clip and 1178 on the spey. By the way the spey is modified to a spearpoint. I do this on user trappers to get a real sharp point on eatch blade. Main question is what steel it has. More information about the knife is also nice. Perhaps somone want to chare the story about the trapper pattern. Dont know anything about the pattern more then I like it a lot in a slipjoint. With modified spey that is. I like the size and the sturdynes.

If I am not mistaken (and I easily could be) they are made by Camillus. The two that I own are great knives. Fit finish and action of the blades and springs are excellent for the money. I can easily see why you like yours.

The steel is most likely a 420 variety that gets a lot of grief on the forums, but my thoughts are that a well heat-treated 420 folder can be a great knife for what I use a folder for the vast majority of the time.

Granted, the edge does not last as long as say the D2 Queen is using in some patterns, but that does not stop me from using an occasional folder in 420 or for that matter older ones in high carbon. Keeps my sharpening skills honed :D.

Thanks for the reply. Simular to you I think that the qality is fine and the aktion of the blades is strong. Quality for money gets a litle different here. Bu reading posts here I know we pay a lott more here in Sweden for american knives.
I think The edgeholding is below average but not poor in this knife but it is very easy to get sharp again. A advantage with a trapper is two blades so if one gets dull you still have another to finish the jobb. A few minutes infront of the TV with a good stone gets it hairpopping again. I like sharpening so this is no big deal.
