Just order it and got an email conformation right after soon it should arrive by the time i get home from work out of country...can't wait to test it against by bk12..rowen heat treat vs base...who will win...sound offf people..this will be a tough one...Cheers

I have no idea who will win but I am confident they wouldn't make this move without good reason and confidence in the steel. I am curious as to why they are going away from sr101 though

It probably isn't as much going away from as it is a getting a good deal on 1095 and passing it on to customers...

It has been a good performing steel for years and many reputable companies have been using 1095 for years. It'll be good to see what extras Busse HT will squeeze out of 1095.

Yes my money is on what elof says, they scored a deal on 1095 or found a pile in the metal stocks and are passing along the score to us. Given I love ESEE 1095 I am looking forward to see how Busse work their magic on it !!

That's what the Yard was all about - having a group of regular offerings in the same steel was a departure for them; and it was openly posted that the Yard was going back to its roots, so to speak. This is their first offering under their new/old routine - Trash1 will last as long as it lasts; then there will be something different....and that different could be 1095, D2, A2, whatever.

Supposedly this release was meant to be in 5160 and be more of a chopper, but I'm not going to complain:D

I grabbed one!
I'll be happy to consider any blade Dan brings, and with the Busse Warranty, No Regrets!!!! :D

I jumped on this as well. Also ordered a BGASH1 so it will be cool to compare the two. 1095 is a great steel and with a Busse heat treat I have high expectations. And at that price I don't see how you can loose.

So now that it is gonna be sr 101... That does change things up even more ... This is gonna be awesome... And for that price

I just received an email saying that they will be using SR101. Which sheath companies do you all use for Scrap Yard Knives?

If you want Kydex, then BuyBrown, AZ Welke, and Mashed Cat all make superb sheaths. If you want leather, Leatherman (Armorall), KnifeLeather (Condos Leather) or Skystorm (Patriot Leather) make some of the best leather pants for Busse/kin you'll ever see.

SR101 upgrade - I love it when a great deal becomes a FANTASTIC Deal!!! :D
Thank you Scrapyard!!!

Dwayne Puckett of Armoralleather.com makes the best leather sheaths that i have owned and used.

For leather, I've been EXTREMELY pleased with http://www.savagemadesheaths.com/Styles/gerber.htm and am planning on a Trash 1 sheath from Harry, as he has taken extremely good care of me. Terrific materials and workmanship.
