Travel case for spinning reels (fishing).

I travel a bit and recently my wife got me a very nice travel rod and LL Bean Waxed Cotton 4-Peice rod carry case.
The rod she got me is a heavy action (because I broke my second decent light action rod this year :D). I'm thinking about picking up a medium-light Okuma Citrix 4-Piece rod so I can both salmon and trout fish when traveling. I am going to pick up 2 cheap Shimano Sienna reels (2500 and 4000)

I have the cases for the rods covered. I need a case for the reels. I'm thinking a photography lens case of some sort, but I need it to be as small as possible and prevent the bails from being crushed. Do they make anything specific for spinning reels (I see a lot of fly reel cases)? Any suggestions?

Small hardsided cooler.

Stop in a Office Depot and take a look at their plastic boxes (They go by the name "Really Useful Box".) which come in multiple sizes. They are very strong and have a positive closure latch. These are located in the far back of the store at least in the two Office Depots I have visited. Take the reel or reels with you. You probably want them to be slightly larger than the original box which has the handles unscrewed.

The one I have will fit both reels comfortably. I envision this to be carried in your car or truck versus luggage.

I keep knives in one size and find it to be very neat and useful.

I really like these boxes. I use them to store bank statements for a year and then move them into more permanent storage as well as receipts and as a holding container for current bills that need to be paid. Your thread also reminded me that I should store my spare Shimano Stradic reels (2500 and 1000 sizes) in them when I transport them fishing (generally as second backup) as I'll usually have a spare already rigged up on a rod as well that is ready for use should the reel fail or I break the rod. I'd absoulutely cry if somehow I crushed one of them in transport since they are so expensive.

If you need padding, a little bubble wrap should take care of that to keep them from bouncing around inside.

I only take this many spares fishing if I am traveling somewhere to fish versus more local efforts.
