Heading to Tanzania in September. I'm a serious collector so have a wide range of styles, makes, etc. to choose from.

My concern is not which knives to bring from a utility standpoint, but, potential local legal issues and of course theft from my luggage while stowed.

if anyone has traveled in Serengeti , been thru the airports, etc., any feed back would be appreciated.

Hey! I am just finishing up a year in Kenya, Tanzania is our neighbor. I am not sure of the local laws but if it is like Kenya, most any knife is ok to carry. This is my 3rd trip to East Africa and every time I have brought nice folders with me. This trip I even have 2 Sniper Bladeworks customs I brought. Although I have heard horror stories or theft from baggage in transit I have never personally experienced it. What I do is lock everything up with a TSA approved lock, although I am sure those who are stealing are probably TSA, lol. What I do in my bags is just make them inconspicuous, like roll them up in socks etc but that is about all you can do. From my experiences I have had no issues in the country (Kenya) with my stuff. You may want to contact the embassy in Tanzania and just ask about the local laws but in Kenya I have had no issues. Best of luck, if I can help out any more please let me know via email.
