Hey Guys,

New to the forum after being bit by the knife bug again.

Just picked up a mini CQC-7 and love it. In my town open carry of blade lengths 3" or larger is illegal (and pocket clip carry is considered open carry as far as LEO is concerned) so the 2.9" blade is perfect. Now I'm looking at other options and the Traveler looks like something I'll need to add to my collection but I was wondering if anyone knew the exact blade length. Emerson catalogue says 2.9" website says 3". Anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance.

I measured mine. It looked just under 3", but it's close. I compared it to my Mini A100 and it is slightly shorter. So I'd say 2.9".

Thanks!

I went ahead and purchased the traveler. Its a great little knife and the ergonomics are fantastic. It is mighty close to 3" but I'm thinking of having the blade reground .1" just to give me a little legal cushion.

In comparing my mini CQC-7 and the Traveler, I'd say a perfect new addition to the Emerson line would be the Mini CQC-7 blade with a traveler handle (or ideally the Traveler handle shape but scaled up 10%). That would be pretty darn close to the ideal EDC knife for me. What do you say Emerson? ;)

Usually when a knife is advertised as 3in, the cutting surface is always slightly below 3in for that "legal cushion". I don't have a Traveler (don't like the design on this one) but I think it will be the case that it's right under 3in.
