So I will be taking a vacation for the first time in 4 years and have a question for my fellow CRK people. I will be traveling in the Mediterranean for a month, spending 95% of my time in salt water environment. Has anyone ever experienced rust on the S35vn? I want to take my CF large 21 as my edc and am just worried about the constant humid salt water environment. I know it's considered "stainless" but at 14 %chrimioum it's on the lower end. I have the option of taking my cts-204p which is 20% chromioum, but I don't enjoy it as much. I just don't want to worry about cleaning. So question is can I take my Sebenza 21 on my boat trips with no worries or what....thank you in advance!

Biggest thing Id be worried about is having it lost or stolen while you're travelling (especially on the flight), more so than the rust.

I can see it now, I take it out of my pocket to cut some fishing line and it slips out of my hand and goes overboard, I watch it descend into darkness.

Makes me consider just leaving that home and taking the ZT or paramilitary2 instead. Won't hurt as much losing those.

Your latter idea is better, but just beware of European laws, the telltale pocket clip might get you unwanted attention.
I would go a step further, and take a SAK. In the pocket, people friendly, and no big loss if it goes overboard. All the advantages of multiple tools too.

Leave the CRK at home , and carry a throw down, or buy one there, …… Bad odds on making it home with your CRK.

For salt water and humidity, bring a Spyderco Salt model. Less expensive, yellow handle is easier to keep track of, lightweight.

I found a few spots of surface rust on my new 25 blade. It was only sitting in a box for a few weeks. happened twice now, but it wipes off with a little bit of elbow grease. none of my other knives do this. The blade was a warranty replacement.

Agreed. Take a small or large salt. Unless it's a real, real beater of a 21 absolutely leave it behind. I've only traveled with Sebs in select states. But traveling abroad with a Seb would be a true testament to your fanaticism. ;)

Haha I think you guys are right. As much as I would love to travel with my sebenza I would be heartbroken if it was lost or confiscated. Will probbaly go with the para2 or a case traditional. Thanks for the eye opener!

SERIOUSLY-Look into the laws of the countries and cities you will be traveling to.
Some countries do not allow locking blade folders at all---

Another vote for a salt- they are perfect for the conditions you describe and you won't cry if it gets lost or seized

I would carry a SAK, and buy a local knife that complies to the laws of the land - I am too wary of knife laws, especially in the EU countries, which can be friendly on one end, and can land you in jail on the other. And yes, there is the airplane theft to worry about too. As others have said, keep the CRK at home! Enjoy the Mediterranean, it has beautiful climate.

I think europeans aren't really used to clips on pocket knives, which looks to me like police officers aren't really on the lookout for clipped knives. Nevertheless, I wouldn't carry/edc a sebenza in most mediterranean countries - more like a concealed BM or Spyderco in case no one could bother and a SAK for public use.
