I bought an auto using a military ID/MP badge before and never felt comfortable carrying it in the civilian side so I got rid of it.

As far as your question about flying with a knife goes. I flew to Aruba and various states within the US with two knives in my checked baggage and never had an issue. Ckeck this TSA site - you're fine checking knives, swords, pretty much whatever the hell you want.

I don't think the multiple knives will be a problem in checked baggage.

However, although you have military ID has your Command authorized you to carry an automatic knife when off duty?

Edit: thinking about it some more, I would be concerned about the auto being stolen by the inspectors. Loss of government issued property could put a real hurting on one's career,
