This is the traveling shaving kit of my wife's Grandfather. He was a railroad mail clerk from 1938-68 and this was the shaving kit he carried during most of those years. Many times he shaved with this while riding the rails using water heated from a pot bellied stove in the caboose. Her brother has the razor. DM

That's pretty neat. I enjoy seeing historical stuff. We have it so easy now. Few know of the old "chamber pot" that was used at night to keep from making the ole trip to the outhouse in the dark. The price paid was emptying and cleaning it in the morning.
I got to use one more than once (I'm only 49) while staying with my Daddy's older friend that lived in a house w/o an indoor commode. The house was built with wooden pegs. The fishing trips made nice memories, though.

Its rare to see them in that good of a shape. Usually the mirror's cracked and the kit has taken quite a beating.

Thanks guys. We've yet to find a name on it but my wife's Aunt said she remembered him having it from the 40's. Wish it could talk. DM
