Traveling Stand?

I have had no success searching for a razor and brush stand that appears it would travel well/fit in my kit. I kinda figgured someone would make a stand that would fold/collapse/etc for travel, but...anyone know of one? What do you use for a stand for your brush and razor when you travel?

That's a good question, and I don't think there's an answer. I haven't seen any folding stands, and if there are any, they are probably made of plastic. I don't like traveling with my metal stand because it might get bent while being banged around in my bag. I just keep my razor in it's leather pouch (Merkur) while traveling and just rest it on the sink at the hotel. I keep the brush in its original case (Vulfix) while traveling, and stand it up, bristles up, on the sink to dry when I'm staying at a hotel.

Cool little stand. I do have one on the drawing board specifically for travel, I think it might suit your needs. I'll get a prototype done up in the next few days and post it here.

I look forward to seeing it. I also just found this, which is possibly an even better solution than the Omega brush stand I already mentioned:

Crewdawg: that's the one I've been using daily for a week now, in a "chrome" finish. it's lightweight so handles very differently than a home brush but still more a plus than a minus and you get used to it in short order. lathers up nicely and premium grade hairs. cleans up and dries fairly quickly as well. the cap has a vent hole when in use otherwise it fits onto the bottom neatly, flat so the brush stands easily on it's own.

edit: that one is even better as it has a screw on cap! mine is now the earlier version with press fit cap which sometimes can get loose too easily.

I've got another travel brush back home that is metal handled just mini sized and comes with a clear plastic travel tube. I know this post is worthless w/o pics! I will check back!

a folding or even 2-piece collapsible razor stand would rock - when ya just can't be without a certain fullsize DE.

And of course the RoyalShave travel brush in black is out of stock...

When I started this thread, that is what I was thinking, that there HAS to be, somewhere out there, a brush and razor stand that folds neatly into a small flat size for travel...I am very surprised no one has invented it yet. I would not want the stand to come apart into 2 or more pieces, because that is just guaranteeing lost parts. I thought about building my own prototype, but have limited materials at my deployed location and have not yet come up with a workable solution that I like.

I've been running the mental prototype machine (grey matter between my ears) and have revised my concept to be a single unit, not a disassemble with seperate parts. Now my question to any of the people reading this, is what typical knot loft should I design this for? Would 70mm clearance between top and bottom be excessive? I use a shorter loft brush, so my personal version wouldn't be ideal for most, and I only have one brush. Also, what average knot diameter should I use, 22mm? 26mm?

Please chime in with what an average should be.

oh dang, I was just in the AoS shop today and completely forgot to look what if any travel brushes or stands they have! as this particular journey finally comes to a close won't have a chance to go back though. shoot. for compact travel I don't think we're going to be able to outdo Gillette with their tidy little packages and just have to make do as best can at the sink. I'm gonna try bending up a wire coat hanger at home like a chopstick stand for the razor or something. maybe plasti-dip it.
