One of the first things I learned when traveling the back trails of Nepal was this. If I came to a fork in the trail and had to ask directions I learned to never point toward one trail or the other.
Why?
Because Nepalis are polite to a fault and if you point and say, "is this the trail to Tatopani (or wherever)?" they will say yes even if it is the wrong trail because they do not want to disagree with you. It is impolite to disagree with a stranger. If you ask and do not point they will point to the right trail and say, "yo bata ho." That's the way.
What has this to do with our shipping department? This. Yangdu has been overloaded and Pala has been helping with the shipping. The mistake I made was giving him instructions and asking him if he understood. He would say yes. Just like pointing to the trail. I have received a couple of emails from fellows who have received the wrong khukuri and this is why. I should have known better but when Pala said yes I thought he meant it. He did not understand what I was telling him but he did not want to be impolite. My fault. I should have known better.
So if anybody gets a khukuri not bargained for return it and we will try to get things straightened out. Yangdu is aware of the problem and will now personally check every khukuri before it goes into the box. Sorry for any inconvenience.
