Hi guys,

I'm going to BLADE this year and I just checked the price of taxis from the airport to the galleria, it seemed rather a lot to me.

I was wondering if anyone else arriving on Friday at around 3:30pm would like to share a taxi to the area of the show?

All the best,

Dave

You have apparently chosen an apt nom de plume.

Seeing as I'm from Scotland, and I like whisky and my first name is David, I like to think so. If you're calling me stingy, then all I can say is that I'm a grad student and therefore try and save money where I can...

I assume you're seeing prices of about $45. Which would be about right for Atl.
You could take the MARTA train, unfortunately it doesn't have a route up to the Galleria area.
You could take the train to the Dunwoody station and get a cab to the Galleria...should be cheaper.
Or,
Take MARTA and transfer to a Cobb County Transit (CCT) bus at some point. Probably at the Marta Civic Center station...never used it, so I'm not positive. Both have web sites and numbers so you might want to call for clarification.

The Waverly shows they have shuttle service for $30, which could be the best or easiest option. You could call and ask them for suggestions.

I'm not staying at the Waverly, can't afford it, I'm staying at a little motel 1.2 miles away. I saw priced of $50-60, but $45 still seems a lot to me.

Thanks,

Dave

Actually $45 seemed too cheap to me, but its what Waverly lists, the $50-60 is more what I expected.
Even though there are a ton of cabs in Atl, they aint cheap. Keep in mind it is a pretty fair distance, with usually awful traffic, and gas is about $4/gal around here.
You may be able to make a flat rate deal with one of the cabs if there are a bunch lined up.
The train/bus route is probably the cheapest...plus you get to see some of the city....and the gawd awful traffic.;)

I'd look for a shuttle heading that way before grabbing a cab.

Considering your thrifty nature, hope you landed a VIP pass. :D

Thanks for all the advice, will we be seeing you there?

Sorry you missed out on the VIP pass, it does save a few bucks over the normal price. Saves much more if you want to get in early on Friday.

I sure hope to be there if something doesn't get in the way.
Hate to miss it since its only a 20 minute ride for me.
