travelling to Peru - issues on bring a knife

I am visting the Amazon in Peru ansd would like to bring a fixed blade with me, but, unsure if I will have any problems doing so. Does anyone have any experience with this situation ? Fixed blade would be a 5 - 6 inch blade like a A1 or a TOPS Firestorm.

Any feedback would be appreciated.
 
It probably depends on how expensive the knife is, if you know what I mean. :)

When I was there the first time, people were carrying pistols on the Aero Condor flight from Cajamarca to Lima. This was eight years ago, though. Peru is probably still pretty down to earth and relaxed. If anything, they'd probably snicker if you didn't have a knife.

You might check IRC for Peruvian channels and ask there.
