There's a known bug in Microsoft operating systems that sometimes causes tray icon status to be displayed behind the taskbar, where you can't read it. Until a few minutes ago, this bugged the hell out of me, but I just found a neat little program that addresses the problem. Here's a link to the download page for ToolTipFixer.
I chose the "install as a service" option, and in the 15 minutes I've been using it, I haven't noticed any problems. The download was clean, setup was easy, and the program seems to be using a steady 2.6Mb of RAM. I'm just happy the damn tooltips are displaying properly.
Just thought I'd put this out for those who might be plagued by this annoying little bug. It's been a pebble in my shoe for a while now.
