Treadmill Motor On Bader 2

Tom,

I haven't seen one mounted on a grinder. I made my variable speed disk grinder using a 1 1/4 hp. tread mill motor. I can stop it with very little pressure even though it does a good job for what I use it for. I found out the motor is only 1 1/4 hp at 5000 rpm. If I turn it up that fast it tends to want to leave town.

Another problem with treadmill motors is they are often open cased.Grinding dust and metal powder do not go well with them. They are also not rated for the service type a grinder gets.Still,if it is free ,or almost free,it is better than nothing.IMHO,get a good 2HP,DC grinder motor when you can.Make sure it is rated for continuous duty and has a sealed case.

First of all I will not make any comments on panty hose. :( If you keep it clean like blowing it out after ever usage ( Tom not orally) I do not see why they wouldn't last. It is not like it would be in constant usage. I do agree get one that is rated for continuous duty. :D
