This summer is the first time I have experienced a little rusting of the sharpened edge of a becker. I have used my BK11 a lot, next to skin, getting exposed to a fair amount of sweat. I have also used the BK7 paddling.

How are you guys treating the edges?

My solution has been to try and let them dry completely more often and keep them oiled. If I find a little rust I remove it with a scotch pad (regular dish sponge) dry and oil.

Pretty much the same here. Just keep it clean and dry, wipe down with light oil and you're good to go.

BTW, according to Cliff Stamp, Camillus's 0170-6C steel isn't very prone to pitting, so even in the field when maintenance isn't possible, all you're likely to get is a thin patina of rust that shouldn't really be too harmful.

Thats been my observation too, the rust wipes off easily. I just need to remember to oil before heading out in the wet.
