Treatment for leather on walking stick

I have a walking stick I finished with Danish Oil and I'm looking to whip some leather thong around it for a handle. What should I use to treat it from the following options:

More Danish Oil, linseed oil, neatsfoot oil, beeswax/snoseal. Thanks.

I'd go with neatsfoot or snoseal (I prefer neatsfoot) but I've never done a wrap before.

You 'might' find that a wax finish isn't comfortable for a handle. It often creates 'heat' and raises blisters. Just my personal take on the matter, but I'm delicate.
