Tree topping?

This is a term that has been bugging me for a while, what is a "tree topping edge" I hear it all the time but don't know what it is?

cutting the hair above the skin, like cutting the tops off of trees in the forest

ooohhhhh, like hover the blade over the skin and just cut off the tips off the hairs. Got it. thanks.
