I'd bet most of you are hunters as am I.

Climbing tree stand - what do you recommend for both Bow and General gun season?

thx. in advance

Summit Viper is what I and most of my hunting buddies use. There are a few worthwhile accessories like a foot rest some cammo wrapping and a cable lock which I also bought. The stand itself was about $250, IIRC, and is very easy to use.

You might also want to post and/or do a search in the Hunting and Fishing forum here on BFC. I don't recall seeing a treestand thread in that forum. Most of the guys that post over there are serious hunters and fisherman, strangely enough.

Another vote for the Summit Viper, its super lightweight (about 20lbs) and very sturdy. You can also order new cables for a decent price when they wear out. I've had mine since 2004 and its still in great shape. I've had a few climbers over the years and its my favorite.

I've seen a really nice new model from API called the crusader that is aluminum and folds up flat. It is 22lbs and has a nice price too. It looks like a great stand for the money.

Both my brothers use Vipers and I sat in one of theirs a few times this past year. It was quite comfortable for me, (I am 5'11 and about 240#) and didn't ever feel like I was over stressing it. I actually preferred theirs to the permanent one I had been using for two seasons. My Lazy-boy recliner at home was a little jealous though!
