Trekker question?

i have a question i hope someone can answer. im looking to possibly buy a Victorinox one hand Trekker but the one im looking at has a black main blade. ive seen the sak trekkers before but i have never seen one with a black main blade. can anyone tell about these?, thanks in advance!,,,VWB.

The black coating Vic put on the Trekker's main blade proved to be not very popular and I'm not sure if it is still being produced. I have no first hand experience but it seems the coating is not very durable and scratches fairly easily. No big deal (at least to me) in a user, but many did not like the "used" look. There is no concern about food prep because the coating is reported as non-toxic so it is mainly an appearance issue. Someone more knowledgeble than I should be along shortly with more info.
BTW: One could do much worse than purchasing any of the Trekker variations.
