Anyone here know where I might be able to find a pair of one piece titanium trekking poles???
Debating between titanium and carbon fiber.
Anyone have good or bad things to say about either???

Thanks,
dave

I've only used the collapsible Leki poles but if you want a solid one piece my guess is to search for cross country ski poles or Nordic ski poles.

You don't need to do that to find one-piece poles. I think most companies that make trekking poles make one-piece versions. They seem to be more popular with the ultra-light crowd, although with the drawback that you need to know what length you need before ordering.

I've only used carbon fiber, and adjustable ones at that, but they I wonder if the carbon fiber ones migh not have a bit more give to them, to help in absorbing shocks?

I see quite a few folks using these around the local Forest Park walking/cycling/skating route.
Seemed like a good idea to me; years ago I read Schwartz's "heavyhands" stuff and he made a lot of sense. Adding the upper-body muscles to aerobic activity results in a great cardio workout that feels somewhat easier than using the legs alone.

I'm not aware of anyone that makes one-piece Ti ones, though they may exist. The lightest poles I know of are adjustable CF ones made by Titanium Goat and they don't even come with a crazy price.

Wow, those are crazy light! 3.2 oz each is insane. I have a pair of Leki titanium alloys and a pair of REI carbon fiber, and neither is even close to that weight. I wonder how comfortable those hand grips are though, especially since it looks like they do not have straps.

They look fairly comfortable to me, but who knows for sure? There are optional straps further down on the page, $12 and 0.5 oz for the pair.
