Hi everyone. First time posting here. Thanks for having me.
So! I have a possible rare find. It appears to be a trench style WW1 knife... dagger... possibly even considered more of a short sword tbh. It measures 18 inches total. It has a 14 inch blade. Each side of the blade has a full length fuller, a total of 4 fullers. It has a solid brass heavy handle. I can't see any makers marks, yet at least. It had a good bit of rust on it when I came across it. I have just applied oil to stop the rust and don't plan to clean it any until told to by an expert maybe. If and when I do I may be able to discover a maker's mark but doubt it as the rust if fairly minor and isn't so deep as to prevent seeing a good stamp if there was one there. I see no signs of it ever having lugs at any point for bayonet use, nor a threaded pommel for a handgaurd of any sort. The brass handle isn't casted to the square blade, rather it appears as if they broached a professional hole into the brass handle for the blade then pressed it into place.
I got very little to no info from the previous owner I bought it from. He was in his 80s roughly but did say he owned it for over 20 years himself. I'll try to ask him again more details but he said he didn't recall how he came across it.
Anyways I'm asking around and getting no luck at attempts to classify this. All I get is crickets lol. Which is either really good, or really bad lol.
It was the most sinister, evil, menacing thing I've ever seen as far as a knife and I had to own it. I'd just like to know what it is tho and approximately what it's worth. Any help or guidance on who else to ask would be appreciated.
I'll attach a link to a quick video I made about it. I don't use photo apps so I can't link any pictures yet. The video should be better anyways.
Thanks
