I mentioned in Tyrkon's USPS Victory thread that I had successfully intercepted a package of my own. It had this inside it (the blade, not the blaster):

A certain Downeaster Hoglet needed a Proto FBM and I had one that I didn't mind giving up because I was getting this in return. Score for us both. I'm not certain, but I think this is one of the so-called "Fishy" models. Anyone want to confirm that? Top edge is quite sharp, with a deep hollow grind set into the top of the flat grind on the primary. This is my first model with the long Custom Shop logo.

Shown here with my other two Steel Hearts, the ZTSH-Puzzle Variant and HOFSH:

The blade on the Fishy is nearly as long as the HOFSH, albeit not quite so tall. Blade stock on the HOFSH is 0.315" while the other two are exactly 0.200", all measurements taken just forward of the scales.

I am quite excited with this knife. I just need to decide on some pants for her....

I really wanted that one, but unfortunately I had nothing to trade that he was interested in. Enjoy it its a beauty.

Congrats, it is a beauty. The SH SH Variants are some of the rarest and hardest to find variants.

I believe you are right in that this one was called "Fish and _____" . The reason behind this was because Jerry was having a little fun seeing if others could guess who it was made for. And it was made for Chip, so it got hooked with the name Fish and Chips, but only because of who the original owner was.

(of the SH SH variants only the one made for Chip was called Fishy, or Fish and Chips)

I can't be certain that this one was originally Chips but it does look similar.

Great snag and Congrats on a Rare Beauty

:D:D

I just found that "fishy" thread while researching the sterile brother to your Variant..

Nice Blade!!!:D

That's the one, those knives were all made for Chip, hence the name Fish and Chips ;)

I have one of the others in that thread that was also made for Chip, it is called the "Red Cross Variant" because Jerry thought he was giving blood to the Red Cross when he made it because he cut himself so badly ;) (pictured in my avatar)

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I appreciate the history, Eric.

Zephy, that HOFSH anchors my satin and black collection.

Rick - off to do some yardwork this morning.

The grind on that blade reminds me of the frosted SJT. Really impressive knife!!! I mean your knife. The SJT is nice as well.

Actually, I am wrong. The different grinds, hollow versus convex make them look quite different side by side

Hey -- it's all good! I really enjoy these pic-based Threads.

Shows me more about the wonderful world of Busse.

Love that ZTNO puzzle variant!

Love that ZTNO puzzle variant!

Thanks. Of course, the whole point was that it was a ZTSH variant (hence the three hearts in the title), but I had ZTNO on the mind after putting one up for sale.

The puzzle pieces were offered at Blade 2005. This one belonged to Piotr Makuch, who posts on here as PiterM. He made the matching themed kydex for it:

It is still my favorite user.

I think that more Straight Handled Steel Heart Varients were made than any other single Model.

That is to say, More knives that started out as Straight Handled Steel hearts were Factory Modified into Varients than any other Busse Factory Model.

Look back through the Archives, you will likely find twice as many references To SH SH Varients compared to others, more Ganza knives as well.

Most of these knives were offered after the Straight Steel heart went out of Production.

This is one of the Little things I have paid attention to over the years.
