Just a quick couple of pics, cos everyone likes pics. I don't know how many of you guys use a spokeshave but it really saves time versus the plane/rasp. I also find it easier to get a more fluid curve. You can get quite a few different subtle responses from the tool by applying pressure to the blade with your thumbs.

I'll have an axe head ready for this handle very soon.

Looks great so far. I really need to get a spokeshave too...I thinned a few handles recently, and the rasp works great, but does tire the hand after a while, and requires a bit more sanding to get rid of the gouge lines. I'm heading to a flea market this weekend...now I have something else to keep an eye on!

This forum is a "bad" influence! :)

I think it's just that the shave is such a pleasure to use.

yes, a spokeshave leaves very little marks when its as sharp as it should be, and its such a pleasure to use.

Its very satisfying and relaxing to make long curls of wood. I don't do enough of it.

That old Work Mate has seen some use. Very handy little benches. The way they clamp different shapes I think is their best feature. I have owned one for many years also.

Got this one recently. Needs sharpening. I'm getting some chatter when I use it.
