Triangular Handle?

I am making knife - first time with full tang (early Kirpichev bulat). I glued cocobolo to both side shape top and bottom to tang shape and start shaping sides.

At this point I get this thing:

I handle this triangular handle and found it interesting! This triangular lays down betweem thomb 3-rd bone and fingers 3-rd bones - fit perfectly.

So I stop shaping and want to discuss this shape. What do you think?

I saw some Lagiyole knives have this kind of shape, but they are smaller.

I have seen some really side configurations in some knives Lee Valley offers, I can see it working in side grips, for some carvig/paring type activities, but in reverse, sabre and hammer grips it looks to be problematic. If it fits your hand though that is all that matters.

James Mattis made himself a knife with a similiar style handle, called it a garlic knife or something similiar.

Very interesting, not something I've seen before. If you post this in Whine & Cheese you may get some interesting interpretations.

I remember reading that Cocobolo is one of those woods that will change color when exposed to sunlight. Any truth to this?

What will you use it for?

Finaly I did this - more like pentagon, it is still little bit wider then taller:

It looks beatifull - all compliments, however go to Ivan, with full tang it is his design, I just choose wood.

Yes it changes color but due to oxidation I think. Not likely because of sunligh. However I am not completely sure.

Cocobolo is very good because it do not nee to be oiled - it has its own oil.

Richardson balance knives have a similar shape handle. I wasn't expecting it to be any good but it was. Yours has much more class though.
