I didn't want to derail the bowmaking thread so I'm starting a new one. This is a shotgun made by a guy from the same tribe. The barrel is a water pipe, it uses match heads for powder and lead sinkers for ammo. Pretty clever! First video is just the guy explaining the shotgun

And the second one is the guy loading and firing it

This reminds me of some exploits during childhood...matches, heat, pressure...boom! Very cool!

That loks like an improved version of the match powered shotgun in the old "Improvised Munitions" manual that Paladin used to sell. Still works as designed.

I like the old Sten kits you could buy with the blueprints for the cuts stenciled on the receiver tube. Anyone could build a full auto sten with simple hand tools. I haven't seen those kits in years. Truth be told... A open bolt machine gun is one of the simplest designs ever made. I have seen cheapo black powder pistols with more parts. I won't go into details but building a Sten is easy peasy!

Don't know about the rest of the world, but what you are describing is a "zip gun" and a "dangerous ordinance" under Ohio law and "(A) No person shall knowingly acquire, have, carry, or use any dangerous ordnance."

So if you "knowingly acquire, have, carry, or use" the item and get caught, you are looking at a felony.

Carry on.

YUP....those "zippys" can be dangerous too.

Yup! Same with not registering a potato gun with the BATFE. Nonetheless. That was freaking awesome! I doubt there were any police there looking for them "pig huntners". Aint much of anything legal in Ohio is there (my bro lives in Cinci)? ;)

Illegal in Texas too. Penal Code 46.05(8)

Not much legal in Texas, hey? :D

On a side note-match heads are really, really variable as a propellant. Lots of potential for making one's own head a different shape using them in a shoulder fired weapon...
If I remember correctly these were also used against the Japanese during WW2 in the P. I.

I would like to point out how dangerous strike-anywhere kitchen matchheads are to anyone considering playing with them....especially close to your eyes, face, and head.

A MAYONNAISE JAR FULL OF THOSE MATCHHEADS WILL PHYSICALLY REMOVE AN ABANDONED CABIN FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH.

there is no way to calculate burn rate or explosive force from so variably sorted, manufactured, broken or cut off, bulked, density in container, etc...extremely unpredictable.

As an fyi, tips can also be used as priming compound to reuse spent centralfire primers...and paste can blow up in your face if not done properly.

If you are in possession of one of the kits and only a piece of the appropriate tubing size (or even inappropriate size while you try to prove otherwise from jail), the BATF WILL charge you with possession of an unregistered fully automatic weapon.

Later kits were not allowed to be imported or sold with barrel, and also lower trigger group was not allowed to stay attached to tubing section with spot welded trigger group ears intact on tubing, and so had to be cut off, ears and all.

Not a simple build....but simple enough for a resistance fighter in auto or machine shop of the 1940s......the hacked kits require removing all wrecked metal at welds, and then skill to weld back together, and tube welding without blowing through is an art in itself.....not exactly simple for a generation who considers moving a mouse to be manual labor

The guy filming this video, he sounds German, seems to know a thing or two about firearms and he adamantly refuses to fire this weapon when they offered. I guess he knows it might blow his head off

I build semi auto AK's in my kitchen... Sten is much simpler, it doesn't need to be pretty. Bolts can be used in place of rivers. At home welding kits are dirt cheap. The kits were every where in the mid 80's. I saw them in The Shotgun News in the 1990's. Anyone is allowed to build their own gun in they own house with no serial numbers needed. Just engrave you name. You are good as long as you aren't barred from owning guns... Felons, wife beaters, ect. You can't build a full auto but semi's are fine. 16 in barrel on rifles, 18 on shotguns, 27 in overall. Use a USA receiver and you don't need to worry about imported parts sec 922r. No open bolts. Hit me up if you need more info.

Oh side note... I could give two craps what is "legal" and "illegal. All gun laws are unconstitutional PERIOD! The Constitution doesn't "give" or "allow" you to own guns. The right to bear arms is a BIRTHRIGHT in this county. You have more of a right to own a gun than to own a car.
The Constitution and 2nd Amendment in particular are of great importance. Some think the Bill of Rights grants us these rights... WRONG! The Constitution doesn't give us these rights we are born with them. The Constitution is a RESTAINT on the governments power to interfere with the people's rights. You can save your "it's illegal" to the Sheeple of the world.

Nobody has the right to tell you what to do. The powers that be were born naked and cold just like me. They have absolutely no power over you. Once you realize this your world opens up. No victim no crime! This country has gone in the crapper due to all these laws being made trying to protect us from ourselves. A criminal by definition does not obey the laws, therefore laws don't apply to them.

You cannot bolt a trigger group through sides of a tube where a giant piston of a breach bolt slams back and forth...nor inside a tube with no access to inside (Sten Mkiii)......fully auto weapons manufactured after the amnesty are illegal for normal citizens to own or possess....period, only dealer samples/LE/and military......if it was registered prior amnesty it would be legal.

Current law is current law and although i am quite in agreement that our constitution was meant for everybody, i do not count myself among those who find out the hard way when their lives are ruined by being carted off to a federal prison and slapped with ruinous fines that there is a vast political machine that will squash one like a bug.....it ain't worth it...and what goes on at home stays at home to not tempt the machine...

Totally agree, that's why I protect my family with what I got in my own home, and to hell with what those sheeples say and do in CA.
I had opportunity to exercise that this morning. My dogs all exploded and woke me so I grabbed my .45 and some short and went to go see what was the matter? When I went out the door there was a car i didnt recognise parked in my driveway but no one around? WTH? I took the key from the car figuring if that car was going to move again they'd have to come to me first. I walked all around the property and couldnt find anyone? Baffled the heck out of me? I was about to call the cops so I didnt have to shoot anybody but decided to let the dogs out knowing they would find them in a few seconds. Sure enough they bolted off to the neighbors property and I saw someone with a miniature horse on a leash. Whew! great i didnt have to shoot nobody. I got closer and recognized the guy as a distant neighbor. His horses got loose and he was searching for one of them. I told him better you let me know if your on my property next time. Couldda gone real wrong there.

That is real talk...most all of my friends and relatives, know that if they going to be on my property, and I don't know it, they better find or call me to let me know, lest bad things might happen.
