I was messing around with this one. I was inspired by primitive flint knapped knives. The knife is 5160, fully forged to shape and peened to this texture. Triple tempered, with the last cycle done after a quick dip in oil. That gave it this great colour. Hemp wrapped, distressed oak handle with two copper rivets (one exposed). I haven't thought of a sheath yet... maybe across the chest or a traditional native neck sheath.

Thanks for looking.
Rick

Wonderful knife Rick. I'm liking your style more and more.

It's going to be a pity to see you have to clean it up for JS judging :)

What a nice design. I'm not one for tribal blades either, but I have to say that in awesome.

That's one tremendously well-thought out knife. The texture, color, shape, aged wood...MAN is that cool!

Little details like the triangular shaped flat transitioning into the ridge and tapering down to the blade edges really makes it for me. Terrific job.

Also the way you make the wood look like it's been used for decades (or is it centuries?) is fantastic. So many things made to look old immediately seem false, but yours has always been spot on. Thanks for sharing this one.

I usually don't like primitive knives. That being said I really like this one. You knocked it out of the ball park with that one.
