Dear All,
"Tribute In Light" The month long memorial went dark at dusk. I have posted photos one month ago of the T.I.L. taken from Brooklyn in order to see the downtown skyline that surrounds it. Last night was the final lighting, I decided to go to the site and to the source itself. There must gave been upward to a thousand people there taking photos, video taping, praying, gazing, hugging, kissing, anything.
I know many of you could not make it to either site or may
even be imagining what it was like to be up close. It was my first time there as well so we are seeing this together. I am happy to show all of you the experience from my point of view of what a majestic tribute this was. I hope all of you have enjoyed it as much as I did.
Thanks,
Shelby Chan

As seen near the Bank Of New York building. Two blocks south of the site:
Shot one block away from the Tribute In Light base:
Crowds gather near the base. This was shot at around midnight:
Unobstructed shot as well getting a bit closer:
Clean up progress at ground zero (a comparison) Notice the image on the left side (taken 12-01-01), there are two large buildings which were heavily damaged or 90% collapsed from the Twin Tower destruction. The image on the right (taken 04-13-02) shows these buildings removed. The site now is about 93% cleared of all debris:
Taking her share of photos:
Thank goodness for timers:
People from all over the world were here well past 1am:
The base of T.I.L. High powered lights arranged on 50'x50' square platforms. This is where it all happens. I couldn't get any closer as it was gated off and guared by NYPD. About 30 seconds after this photo was taken, it started to rain heavily for about 4 short minutes. Everyone was drenched. No one budged. I was able to find a little cover and stuffed my equipment in my case:
Lights go out. Reads "04-14-02 2:24am - 04-14-02 5:45am" I basically hung around the city for a while and decided to go the pier in Brooklyn again. It was farily warm. Around 65 degrees. I snapped a photo, waited a couple of hours and snapped again. Got home around 6am:
