Thought Id post up some pics of recent stuff I managed to get finished....despite a Tornado. lol

First up is the CS Trailhawk I got gifted to me from a forum member for some leatherwork I did for him.

I sanded the haft, coated with BLO, stripped the head, did my first attempt at filework, and made up a mask. The edge also got convexed into a wicked sharp edge. These things are very cool woods tools. IAwoodsman did a great video on them, and I just saw a video where a guy used it for a bow to do bowdrill. You could even wrap a bowstring around the haft under the head to act as protection from misplaced swings.

The edge on mine sucked. It had about two tons of paint on the head, and you gotta love the American Tomahawk Company logo on one side, and taiwan on the other. :jerkit:

After a bit of elbow grease I got a damn nice hawk out of it. Im gonna get some dirt time with it soon, and post up some pics....

Next I made up a leather neck rig for jcl-mds, AKA The Enigma, AKA the Dark Lord Sith...... Turley Boones Branch.......Which by the way is frickin AWESOME!!! Iz Turley makes some of the best knives around. His ZSERE knife recently got picked to be the official knife to be given to every Sere instructor graduate. Check out his forum here on BF, he did a really cool video series on making the SERE Bolos, and theres more info on the project itself....

This is his Boones Branch knife. Its a small EDC style necker in O1 with a full convex grind. Its amazing. Light, sharp, and one of the most comfortable small knives Ive held. Im sad its not mine, and since its brand spankin fresh from Turley Knives HQ, Im not gonna pop its knife use cherry. He also does a really cool varied convex grind on these. I dunno....If your like me, I believe a small fixed blade has a definate nitch in my kit. Handy suckers. I made a neck rig/pocket sheath for him to carry....I believe its gonna be his EDC.....

Gettin started....That knife is awesome.

that Turley does look nice (as well as the sheath :))

dumb question- how is the hawk head held on?

Your leather work is rockin' man  I have a CS trail hawk around somewhere, I think it's buried in the garage somewhere :o I need to find it, those things are sweet.

Thanks man! Oh its real nice man. Be a great backpacking knife. The hawks head is held on by friction. There was a set screw, but IMO its un-needed, and I like the option of taking the head off for packability. I got out and wailed on it a bit today....Ill post up my pics soon...

Hey J.
Nice clean up job on the trailhawk. You've probably been there but if not, check out the trailhawk mod thread on the axe and hawk forum, lots of great mods. Nice leatherwork. It's the sticky at the top of the page. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/768-Axe-Tomahawk-amp-Hatchet-Forum

Best regards
