I would like to show you this new project I have beem working on.
I call it Tricorne due to its three aggressive tips and have developed it with a lot of influence of the khukuri - one of the knife styles I am most fond of - but I wanted something smaller, better suited for piercing and able to be handled and used in many positions, besides it had to have an effective top edge and skull crusher and also be able to be comfortably carried and concealed - a point where many "dream fighters" have failed.
The result was this tanto tipped, heavily recurve forward curved 5 1/2" long blade. I have been playing with the kydex profile shown and it is very promising, being highly maneuverable and comfortable in both standard and reverse grips, and still offering ease of carry and a very fast draw thanks to its handle position.
A steel proto will not see daylight so soon, as I am very busy now with the Fisk seminar and should only buy steel stock in the necessary width by next month, but I would like to hear your comments and criticism, in order to keep refining the project, so keep them coming.
Thanks for your atention!

Hello, Tom
Thanks for proving my point - that Strider is awesome, to say the least, and I wouldn't mind adding one to my modest collection one of these days. Other knives that benefit from the same general blade concept are that big Ryan folder and the MT Vector.
Thanks for your comments,Zodiac
I'll let you know as soon as I have something drawn on a steel bar.

I like the idea Ivan. I'd have to play with one for a while before I decided if it was better than a khukuri . The biggest question I have about it is the forward weight. That combined with the never ending curve is what makes them such great choppers. Yours would be a great slicer and offer backslashing as an option but at what cost.
Good idea and design to work on.

Hello, Peter

It can't be compared with a a khukuri, as even the smallest ones I have tend to be laregr and heavier, as this is first a concealed carry blade, like the other blades I make.
But the Concealex profile seems to allow pretty good slashes due in part to the forward curved blade. We will only know exactly when I have a steel model finished but I would have it more as a pure slasher than a chopper. Even if I use 3/16"thcik steel, I don't think it would ge a great chopper with this blade shape, as only the secondary point and the area betweebn it and the first point would be in touch with the thing being chopped.
The more I play with the concealex profile, more curious I am becoming to try one in steel...

Hello Peter

I can add that when this one becomes reality, it may be in K-100 steel (that I am trying hard to get in thinner stock and probably will until the end of the year) or even in CPM S30V, the brand new high performance stainless from Crucible.
