I recently ordered this knife for a backpacking/hunting trip. As of late, I've read a few bad things regarding the CPM S30V steel (namely in the Chris Reeve Green Beret). In most instances I hear the steel will chip if heat treated incorrectly.

Has anyone used any of these particular fixed blade knives.

thanks for helping out a noob.

there knives are top notch i own lots of them even the folder......the guy who makes them (magic) as he likes to be called.....really puts them time into heat treating his blades i have never had a problem......they are expensive but worth every penny.... enjoy

This will be my first from CF.

I spoke with a lady at CF and she went to quite a bit of detail regarding his heat treating process.

To be honest, I really enjoyed being able to spec the blade grind, length, belly, and coating.

My first "custom" knife.

Thanks, I feel quite a bit better:)

They are top notch people and blades. Photogenic product too!

Again, I feel a lot better about the purchase.

There just aren't many on this board that own them or seem to have anything to say about them (good or bad).

I have every intention of posting pics...don't know how good they'll be, but I'll post them.

I've considered bringing a camera on our 4-5 day hike. I'll see about packing up one of my cheaper digital cameras.

Yes. It's the problem of being the quiet maker in the madding crowd. They seem better designed (thought out) than Comparable tacticals- for the real world at least. I did trade mine away for lack of usefulness in my rather mundane lifestyle- preferring small daily use pocket folders instead.

Again, I feel a lot better about the purchase.
