I just got my Trident Oberland 03 in the mail today (the long one) and thought that some here might like to see the picture of them.
Love these Tridents!! :) :D

How are the ergo's? I have often looked at them on the site, but wonder how they feel in the hand? The shape of the handles looks very different from most other fixed blades.

Sometimes the maker will have some white around the shop and can supply a knife with them but I think they are an extra $35 or so.
I really like the white too!!

I thought that the handles looked kind of funny before I ordered my first one. When the first one came (the white ones) I was kind of giddy since it did not seem to matter what kind of hold I had on the handle, there was always a groove that fit that grip.

So, how's the ergo's.....SUPER!

Caution: once you have one you can't stop with just one. I think they come with a magic spell built into them.

You are really making me want one. I think I would spring for white.

There are too many good affordable fixed blades out there! I just got my first Dozier and love it. I want more. I also just got a RAT-3 and it is pretty good (not my favorite). I want a Busse, a Bark River, a CRK one-piece, a cord-wrapped Strider, and now a Trident.

I am going to be busy for a while just getting the fixed blades I want.

I have 3 Busses, 1 Barkriver due tomarrow, 4 Doziers and 1 due in Nov/Dec, 4 fehrmans, 2 CRK Green Berets, 2 CRK Neal Roberts, a Tanto 1 and a Shadow III, and a slue of other brands.
This is not trying to brag it's just to let you know you have some great knives on your list but of all of the ones I have I think that the Trident Custom Knives are my favorite of all .
For me the one that came in today, the Oberland 03, is everything that I want in a knife. Its scary sharp, and is just a little under 6" blade. I love the way that the cutting edge is high ground without a secondary bevel...almost like a Scandi grind.

Keep fullfilling your want list, they are all great knives. I think if I had to choose a second favorite brand it would be a toss-up between Bob Dozier and Fehrman. The Dozier I have on order is a custom KS-7 Wilderness Knife with white paper micarta handles. I have a model-6 with the white paper micarta and really love the way it looks....just like ivory.

Good luck on you list but once you have had a Trident I think you will go back for more.

Thanks for the input. And don't worry, you don't come off as you are bragging. You do have a great fixed blade collection! I hope mine will rival yours one day.

I want a Busse as my next fixed blade since I want to try a Busse. I have handled 3 or 4 of them and liked how they felt and cannot wait to use the hell out of one. After the Busse, it will be a toss up between Bark River and Trident.

Nice collection Ron. Didn't you have a Trident you sent through testing in the yard?

Very nice Muzzle!!

My new Wojtas Tool with white slabs should come in the next couple of days.

Your new O-3 looks almost identical to mine except the finish. I love mine and I'm sure you'll love yours as well.

Very nice collection. How do you feel the S30V works in a larger fixed blade. I ask for you're opinion because you own others (Busse, Ferhman) made of much different steels, not quite as hard. Nice knives.

That is a great trio! I followed JerkyJoe's advice and went to Citadel Safe and Gun in Las Vegas and handled all of Trident's fixed blades. They do in fact feel great in the hand. I have to get one now!

Muzzle!! I have been looking at these knives for a while. What models are in the picture? Which do you think would be the best all around camp knife? I have got to get me one of those Tridents!!

Trails...,
The top one is an Oberland 03, the middle one (white handles) is an Oberland 01, and the last one is a TCFM 02.

I think that the Oberland 01 would be the better "camp knife" but any one of them would do a great job

I like CPMS30V since it is more stainless then the 3V. INFI is a great tough steel but I just don't happen to be a Bussephile, I just own 3 of their knives.

The Oberland 03 is just shy of 6" and I think that is a good limit for S30V. The Fehrman First Strike is 7.5" and I think that the 3V will work with longer blades, it's just not quite so stainless.

Wow, you have me at a disadvantage. How did you know that I worked in the shipyard?
Yeah, we did do some work on Tridents in the yard but they were a little bit bigger then my knives.

unvail yourself

Wow that's a funny coincidence. I was referring to this thread from way back.

It was JerkeeJoe that did some tests in the backyard (not shipyard). Sorry for the confusion. ;)

I remember thinking the white one looked kind of cheap back when I first saw it, but the look has grown on me. I'm liking these knives more and more.
