I have my eye on a Trident knife. I have only seen pics in blade mag. and there website. They are awesome looking hard use knives in the pics.
The sculped handles looks like a great grip.
Does anyone know if there treating process of the s30v is good? There hardness is 59-60. Chris Reeve s30v is 58 I think. Seen post on s30v that seemed to think s30v can chip at 60hardness. Overall quality of knife? what do you think about them? Thanks, Ken

When you have to resort to ripping off other peoples ads and modeling your knives after someone else how good could your product be? :barf: DO comes to mind. I'd rather skip the crap and start with a Strider. Notice the spelling too. :)

Edit: And welcome to BFC.

stryder= oil man?

hmmm.....

Nope. Just noticed that Strider changed their ad in Blade Magazine. I would guess it was partly due to the Trident ads that look quite a bit like the old Strider one. Sad. :( Trying to cash in on someone elses talent. :barf:

i have a strider and a trident and i actuly i prefer the trident better you can call them a copy cat all you want but when the rubber meets the road ill take the trident every time

2 YEARS AGO I was referring to their advertising. It has since come to light that they are good knives in their own right. How'd you find this thread? A search for Styder Knives?:)

FWIW, I have a TCFM 02, an Oberland 01, and a Oberland 03. These are all fixed blade knives and are extremly tough. They all came scary sharp. Maciej does triple heat treating and I have not had a single chip from any of my blades. When I get enough money I intend to buy another Trident (Crusader Forge now). The Tridents stack equally well up to my 4 Fehrman knives also.

If anything, Maciej overbuilds his knives. They are all build like tanks!

Ron, the only Fehrman I've got is a Thru Hiker. Real nice little knife and it slices very well, although that doesn't tell me how the larger Fehrmans cut. But how about Trident/Crusader Forge? Are they just prybars or sharpened OK also? Can you do precise cutting with them?

Esav,
The Trident/Crusader Forge knives that I have all came "screaming" sharp. Their web page may show someone standing on one of the blades but that is just to show how strong they are. All 3 of my Tridents are VERY VERY sharp as received and even after chopping up some 2X4's, hawthorn branches, and bamboo they are still sharp. All I ever do is just give them a quick strop, out of habit, and they are like they just came out of the box. Maciej is a master at what he does and I can't wait until I can affort one more.
I also have the Thru Hiker, Peace Maker, First Strike and Last Chance of the Fehrmans and you can believe me that they all came "screaming" sharp too. That CPM3V steel is some damn tough stuff. I also have or have had some Busse knives too and I don't think they are any better then the Trident/Fehrman knives!

As to you question of doing precise cutting....they can be as precise as you can be with them, but they are BIG knves and not really made for making spoons or whittling balls and chains.

Hope this helps some.
