Ok guys I was looking at Trident knives and thought they looked kinda cool and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. Such as the quality and how they stand up to hard work. Thanks in advance.

If you're talking about SOG Trident folders http://www.sogknives.com/Images/fold/sog-trident/TF-2.jpg
good question.

I've been curious about these assisted opening, $60 folders, with cord cutter feature. The bowie blade may grow on me. I'm looking for a wharncliff folder currently.

Interesting write-up in Tactical Knives http://www.tacticalknives.com/July 2005 issue by Pat Cascio where he discusses the fixed blade and the folder versions of the Trident series. The author traces the cord cutter feature to military field use by Rob Hanna, Navy Seal.

How does the SOG folding Trident's assisted opening compare to the Kershaw Ken Onion Leek feel? I really like the Leek's quick snap and positive lock worked on top of the knife without the chance of cutting your thumb on the blade while working the thumb stud.

My all-time favorite top actuated assisted opening folder is the Buck Tempest http://www.buckknives.com/catalog/detail/410/238 which has the opening actuator nub and the blade lock next to each other on top of the knife. Very easy, convenient and fast to open/lock/unlock. No complaints on the ATS-34 blade steel (When will Buck have D2 steel as a blade option?). I like to carry this, $60 delivered, blade with a pull lanyard and a ID badge spring reel clipped to my watch pocket on my Levis.

All the best,

Hey Oregon,

Actually I was talking about the company Trident Knives(www.tridentknives.com). I have looked at the SOG knives and read the article and they seem ok though I would personally go with a Kershaw.
