trident opening

I purchased a trident today and was wondering how easy yours is to open? Mine requires quite a push on the thumb stud for it to snap open. It hurts a bit when doing this. Is this normal for the trident?
I have an Aegis and it's smooth and just requires the slightest pressure to release the blade.
Will this smooth out over time with the Trident? Thank you.

I filed on my thumbstud, not very good, but it made it a little more bearable
Also, they seem to have issues with the pivot.
Try oil.

thanks for the response. once you push it beyond the initial click it snaps open but requires in my opinion an abnormal amount of push. It almost seems like I have the safety on but I don't. Push HARD and out snaps the blade. I don't think it requires oil but whatever is holding the blade back like a notch or lock of some kind takes a lot of pressure just the same. I guess that was the way they were made. I will try out some others next time I go to my cutler.

took it back and found out there was indeed something wrong with it. tried 3 other tridents and they all opened like they should nice and easy and normal deployment. thanks for your help.
