Looking for help, getting my 770 CF centered again after a try with it de-assisted, didn't like it de-assisted, when I put it back together with the assist bar in it, it was no longer centered, was before. I've tried loosening all the screws from one side and shimming the blade to the proper side, but when I tightened her back up, uncentered still. I can't think of anything else to try, I have two copies of this knife and the other one is perfectly centered, as was this one before pulling the torsion bar and putting it back in.

Thanks for any advice/experience etc.

Your problem lies with all of the screws, not just the pivot screw. Take your time and tinker with it.

Yes. Switch screws around. Try different tightness on the screws. Flip the stop pin. Change anything that can be. Be systematic.

One thing I've done in the past is take a piece of paper and fold it over enough times so that you can wedge it in between the bade and the scale so it looks centered. After you've done that is when you screw in the pivot screw. I did this with my Echelon when I put it back together and it worked like a charm.

The way I have always done it is as follows:

1. Loosen all screws including the pivot, except for the pocket clip.
2. Hold the blade just off center towards the frame lock. Something like 1/64" or 1/32".
3. Tighten the pivot screw down nice and tight. Release your tension on the blade and check centering. Repeat steps 1 & 2 while adjusting your offset as necessary until you achieve the desired results.
4. When you are satisfied with the centering, tighten down all other screws.
5. Double check your centering again, but it should stay put. If not, go back to step 1.
6. Remove your pivot screw, apply a small dab of Loctite Blue, and reinstall. Adjust the pivot screw until you are happy with the amount of friction and play of the blade. Some people prefer really loose, others prefer things a bit tighter.
7. Once you are happy with the amount of friction and play let the knife sit open for 30 minutes to set the Loctite. From there take it ease on the amount of use and opening/closing you do for the next 24 hours until the Loctite fully cures.
8. Lube the knife and enjoy! Things should stay put for a while now.
9. Profit?
