The Tanto is 3/16 S35VN with and 8" blade I have shown here a few weeks back. I needed to make a sheath for it and bounced around idea for Carbon fiber Kydex, Leather and a customer recommended bamboo.

I really do not enjoy making sheaths...lol. But making this bamboo saya was actually pleasurable and I am pretty happy with out it turned out.

I mixed it up a bit and made nickel silver spacer and turned an aluminum frog for it giving it a matte black powder coat finish.

Thanks for looking guys

It's too wide....you made it the same width as the guard....it should have been the same width as the handle.....the shape is funky.....if it had been the same with as the handle and roughly an ovoid rectangle...would have been much more pleasing visually......the effort is seriously appreciated I am sure, and it would be good to continue working on these....it's a unique look....also, I agree with Rolf's comment, wooden or micarta pins would have been more aesthetically "correct".

Thanks,

I was going for kinda of a fusion of a Bowie type sheath from bamboo. That is why it has a frog and is as wide as the guard.

It does look different but that was kinda the point.

I agree some bamboo or micarta pins would look good. I used stainless because of the stainless in the guard and blade... that was what I was thinking.

I have been at this knife making for a couple of years so I am getting out all the ideas that have been stuck in my head for awhile.

I do think I will make some narrower saya out of this material for some future tantos, I like working with it much more then kydex or leather :)

Thanks for your input it is much appreciated everyone.
