I live in North Florida, and in Miami. When I go to my condo in Miami, I usually carry with me, 8 or so folders. Hey, you just never know, right?
This past trip though, I took just one. An elderly Benchmade liner lock. Don't know the model, what steel it is made from, or even when I bought it, but I believe it was just about my first 'modern' folder. Got to be at least 15 years old.
Used it every day, for everything. Even whipped it out at the City Hall restaurant, to cut my steak. ;)

Dang old thing performed perfectly. It did every task with ease, and after two weeks of daily use, I have a whole new respect for it. Don't think I'll try going so Spartan in the future, but it was in interesting, and successful experiment.

Nice oldie there. I usually carry two, one in pocket and the other in my utility bag. Backup's a good idea. On the company forum there was a guy that carried an arsenal on his belt, and being young and invinceable probably with family money (he owned multiple Doziers fer example) eventually he got busted, (must've blown the arresting LEO away...) So carrying your flock seems minor. Still, be carerful out there, you never know.

jkarp, I did not mean I carried all those at one time!!!! Just that when traveling, I carry with me, in my pack, multiple knives. Only one, or maybe two in the pockets at a time. lol :D
Hate to be far from home base, with a limited selection to choose from each morning.

Point here, is that the old Benchmade actually was enough. God, I hope my wife does not read this.

I had never seen that model before. Looks to be a Mel Pardue design though. Thanks for the pic and sharing, it's nice to see the older knives get some work done too. :)

Nice to know. It's easy to assume when it's common for many to carry at least two. Only the young and restless carry as many as the guy I mentioned above. BTW - your knife in the photo is a model 401 Panther, made during the '95 to '96 period. The catalog said it was made in G2 stainless, I think that's Japanese Gingami steel.

I really appreciate the information. I had totally forgotten any details about the old guy. '95 sounds about right. I'll admit to having to touch up the tip, as I broke it separating some joints on a dead deer. Some file work, fixed it, and the knife takes, and holds, a wicked edge.

I don't remember that guy. Who was it?

I only carry one at a time, but I have been known to pack 2-3 so I have a edc, a utility, and a dress folder available.

That is a great looking knife, and I enjoy seeing the discontinued models. I usually carry two knives, a Swiss army and a larger folder.
Lately is between the Contego or a Grip and I never feel under dressed. For what ever reason when I carry one of my j-frame's I carry a Grip
and when I do not have a j-frame with me I carry the Contego. I have no real explanation.
Frank.

I carry only one knife, don't need more! Either a Para 2, a Manix 2 CF S90V or a 710 M2 HS.

Unless I'm in the deep backcountry or mountains and I also carry a Leatherman Ti.

Oh, forgot to mention. I also carry either a Dan Wesson CCO .45ACP or a Glock 19. ;)
