Well here it is my first ground blade and 3rd finished knife all together. I tried to post in the gallery but don't have permission for some reason. I'm open to comments and critiques, that's the only way I'll get better and more practice . I'm not sure I like using loveless bolts , the finish isn't flush or am I missing something.

The gallery is for registered knifemakers... you need to change your membership from Gold to Knifemaker/Craftsman/ServiceProvider since you're a "real" knifemaker now!!!!:D:D:D:D

And, Good Job!

man only your 3rd knife??

looks like youve been at it for years

im trying to backyard heat treat my knife to, any tips right off the top of your head???

ooo

It's the third knife I finished , I scrapped a bunch on the way to this one .
There is tonnes of info on this site about heat treating, basically I got the blade to non-magnetic ( check with a magnet) and then instantly quenched into canola oil and then tempered it in the oven . Like I said there is tonnes of info on how to do this better then that , here is 2 links to mini-forge plans / parts etc that can help with your build:

Use the search feature here and you'll find lot's more.

Thanks for all the positive comments , the bubble jig really helped . It's still freehand grinding and you have to still get the feel for the pressure but it works wonders on keeping the grinds straight and even . It's 5/32 Aldo 1095 , 8" OAL and RC of 61.

oooh, nice work! I love those slim scales.

What's the Charmin for? ;-)

Got my stencil today , after one test run did up my first blade . Stu is one of my best friend who's the recipient of this blade. I could probably center it more , I did a light sand over it after which was a bad idea but not to bad for a first try.

Great etch! Turned out nice and crisp. Very cool that you were able to personalize it for your friend too
