I screwed around way back when- back when we all thought we had the luxury of time and choices and missed out on the Camp Tramp, the Battle Rat, and the Ratweiler- all because I thought I could take my time and decide which one I wanted (I hadn't yet realized that of course I wanted them all!). I did manage to get one of the last Howling Rats- nice knife, but what a tease of what a Camp Tramp might be.

I started haunting the Exchange. My wife decided I had totally lost it and was telling people I had become obsessed with knives- I told her "everyone should have a hobby- and stay off the computer!"

For a looong time, not a Camp Tramp to be seen. When they finally started showing up, I was always too late (and one time I had a whole 4 minutes before somebody else got it, too). Finally, Saturday I got my Camp Tramp! I had already decided I also needed a Ratweiler to compare it with (are they the same knife with different handles?), and of course (even though I had long ago decided I didn't need/want a blade that big) I finally thought I should get a Battle Rat just to see what all the fuss was about, but I kept missing those too. Today was my day! I got the Ratweiler and the Battle Rat!

I can't stand it- after all this time with nothing going on at the Swamp (except for pre-ordering the Crash Axe- I learned my lesson and ordered two) and frustration at the Exchange, I have all three of my Swamp Rat wish list knives on their way!

Sorry- I have to go watch the mailbox now!

Congrats, bro. But please don't think it stops with those three. You will continue to have to feed on even more blades.

Sorry, I'm going to go back and continue watching Underworld, now. :o What can I say?? Kate Beckinsale is sooooo hot!

Did someone say Kate Beckinsale? 'Cause I could swear that her name was thrown out there by someone????

:p

.

Oh, yeah. CongRATS on the new cheese, MVF!!

Thanks all- wish I'd seen xaman's RW first, could've saved some $$, but that Camo does look awesome in the pic's. Of course that could mean I have to buy another for a user!

I really mean to focus on the B Bu Bus - you know, those other ones next, but who knows with the new line coming out- although I'm starting to think that may be an urban legend!

Where's Kate Beckinsdale?

And....then....there is the elusive INFI Coot.... The hunt never ends.

I was seriously considering a Battle Rat, but they are discontinued, and it looks like the whole line is being pushed $40-70 upmarket. It seems like the nearest complement to what I want in the new line will be about $218 or so instead of the $158 quoted for Battle Rats. i guess we will see how it pans out...

CongRAT MVF! I know you will enjoy all of your new Rats. If you really want to appreciate them, you have to take them out and use them. I mean use them hard. Be rough with them. They love it and you will too.

I will take a look when they come out, but they haven't quite captured my attention yet.

Give them time. If you like res-c. Im definatley goignto try one out. So far i dont have any rats but 2 busse's, so i figure ill get more bang for the buck out of scrapyard than anything. I dont think that the busse family would put out anything that wasnt good.:D

Thanks for the pics WS, and thanks for the replies all.

I'm looking forward to seeing some tests of the S7 steel, but I definitely wanted some SR101 with resiprene before they got any harder to find or more expensive. I sure wish I'd have just bought one of each back when- would've saved a fortune. Course I didn't have that much money back then- and it didn't help that the company store had the meaner street line available around that time- by the time I made a decision everything was gone! oh, well- I'll be trying not let that happen again!

Of course that's how I ended up with my FSH, so it's not all bad;)

MVF, congrats on the trifecta!

WS, what is the slim white item at lower right in your picture? I think the other two are a diamond plate sharpener and firesteel, but unless the white item is another sharpener (different grit?), it's got me stymied. TIA.

Well, they've all arrived. :D Wow- what great knives!

Unfortunately for me, I was hoping once they got here I could pick a favorite for a user and let the other two go, but I know that's really not likely now. The Camp Tramp feels great, much smaller feeling than I expected from a knife that size- very light and useful feeling in the hand. The Ratweiler feels bigger (actually looks about a half inch longer) but very good. And the biggest surprise of them all, the Battle Rat, which I had always thought of as being ridiculously large, feels amazingly light and well balanced- it actually feels kind of eager to get to get to work! (Hmm.. this is getting a little scary)

Needing to keep all three isn't even the worst part- they're all mint, the Camp Tramp and Battle Rat have the penetrator tip, and the RW has the urban camo finish- so now I think I need 3 more for users

Help me Mr. Wizard!
