Suggestions?

I suggest that you never again post a for sale post in Blade forums without becomming a member. Posting it in the discussion forum is another no no.

hey, I am all for paring down collections, but calling it quits? Do you mean that literally or figuratively. I dont think I could ever say with finality that I never will buy more knives. :)

As far as suggestions go- suggestions regarding what?
Do you want people to suggest the knife purchase to end all knife purchases?

I would suggest buying Sebenzas and Striders ;) J/K

Maybe a nice fixed blade? :D

yeah, basically calling it quits - not buying anymore for collection purposes. only EDC usage.

so yeah, suggestion for a final good purchase and i'm done.

it just sucks to look in my knife drawer and see $1000 sitting there unused.

then again i know the day after i sell these im gonna be like AHHHH MY BABIES SKJAHFLSDHFKJDS

How many people here only buy a knife they absolutely need? How often does someone need the strength of s30v steel? Theres plenty of reason to keep those knives. Imagine handing them to your grandchildren in 30 years when they're used to lightsabres.

well it's the idea of having $1500 of stuff just... sitting there. i'd rather have the money. i think.

I'm there as well. I've let go of many knives and feel pretty good about it. If I'm not usng them, they're gone! I also wait two weeks before considering buying a new knife that caught my eye.

Resist the impulse buys and buy the knives you really like and are going to use. Less is more!

Although I had to pair down my collection, I have to say I understand what you're going through. I'd personally sit down and think about what you use every day and then decide what would best fit your needs from there. I carry a fixed, folder, and slipjoint every day. So, I just thought about what I wanted in knives that fit those categories and went from there. I have only bought knives that have been users. Stuff I know I'll carry. Of course there is one exception to that (my Obie), but how can you blame a guy for that??? Good luck, I think you're making sense. As for a purchase to end all purchases, I'd go with something in a cheaper custom that you won't mind using. Either that or a Ka-Bar Dozier folder- best $20 you could spend.

Sincerely,
Anthony

I recently did this on a minor level to buy my new 2x72 grinder. At first I felt terrible about selling knives I'd had for a long time, but I also sold stuff that I'd never even used to cut anything and once I had let a few go I really realized that I was holding onto some things for no particularly good reason. It felt good to thin the herd a little bit.

Just to clarify.

Starting a post about paring down a collection and discussing the thoughts is one thing and that is a great topic. It is always a tough decision.

Listing the knives you have for sale in the discussion forum displays a different intent.

Been doing this for some time now and have gotten the "collection" down to around 6 to 8 knives. These will change some as I sell to buy new ones .

I apologize. I wasn't listing for sale. I listed my current collection, and asked for suggestions because aside from the cuda maxx 5.5 and the bm710 (edc), i can't decide which ones to keep and which ones to get rid of.

rest assured i'm not selling to BF members via this thread. If i end up selling to people here i'll buy a gold account.
