I recently bought my first Camillus - the Fisk OVB and was very pleased at the construction, fit and finish. Fisrt class production knife.
But, I had my doubts regarding the claims of the Becker line. I read the forums and looked at the ads. Decided to take the plunge and ordered three Beckers, BK5, BK7 and the BK9. Boy was I surprised! These are great knives and for the money real bargains. All had clean grinds and the edges very sharp. The grips were well fitted with no gaps. Seemed to fit my hand very well - no problems with slippery grip. The sheaths were all very acceptable. The BK7 and BK9 seem to live up to the ads. Strong basic bowie style blades. The BK5 was the biggest surprise. For some reason it's much bigger than I pictured. I knew it had an 8.5" blade but still it's a big knife. Very light for it's size and sits in the hand real good. Sorry, when I picked it up I didn't think camp knife but rather it's a fighter, a real wicked slasher. The only reason I can come up with that this didn't sell well is the lack of a clip or lowered point.
So I am wowed! The Beckers seem to live up to all the good press. I'll recommend them to anyone needing a strong basic working blade. Perhaps you might consider a minor redesign on the BK5 lowering the point and testing the waters again? I'll buy one - heck maybe I buy another BK5 anyhow.
