I woke up to the first 70 degree morning we've had in a while. That's a good sign.

A good sign that the Fall is on its way, and some great trips will be too. I hope.

So, lets just do a little prep work, what do you say?

Ok, lets plan for 3 trips. Each will require a different loadout.

Trip 1 On the Water
Kayaking or Canoe trip, 7 days in the woods with no resupply. Feel free to fish.

Trip 2 In the Dirt
Hiking for 3 days, with no resupply, and everything must be carried

Trip 3 Runnin' on Fumes
Car camping in a large national park for 3 days, no resupply, but you have you car so.......

Build your loadouts, make sure to include some BKT knives, and see what you can come up with.

If possible, note the weight and use of your items.

No, this isn't a contest, its just for fun.

I'll post mine up as soon as I get a chance.

Awesome. I know what I'm doing with my downtime today.

trip 1:
Backpack: I use a Mountain equipment co-op Ibex 65
bk7 and bk14 (limbing/batoning wood and food prep)
trailblazer collapsible buck saw (or other backpacking saw for doing heavy cutting)
leatherman wave (fixing gear, pliers for removing fishooks from mouths etc)
folder knife of choice (just something small I keep in the bag as a backup I take a cheap spyderco)
fishing rod a small tackle box with a few of your favourite pieces of tackle for the area. (the see through divider type that fit in a backpack pocket)
a couple of lighters and a ferro rod in a waterproof bag. + waterproof matches
detailed map + compass
flashlight / headlamp + spare batteries
first aid kit
Camp pot set
Waterfilter pump + nalgene (mine screws onto a widemouth nalgene) + backup water purification tablets.
lightweight sleeping bag and tent, I also have a inflatable air mattress that folds up really small and able to stick in one of the pockets in my bag.
tarp
rain poncho / coat
change of clothes + extra socks and underwear. (if it's hot and youre going to be sweating or you get wet, always keep dry socks)
food + prep items for fish inside of an MEC dry bag that I also use as a beanbag for hanging the food in the tree at night.
rope to hang the dry bag, and for lashing things into canoe, putting up a clothes line, tie downs for the tent etc.
biodegradable soap, bug spray and toiletries

Trip 2:
same bag
bk7/14 + leatherman wave + trailblazer buck saw if I think it will be needed (pretty lightweight)
a couple of lighters and a ferro rod in a waterproof bag. + waterproof matches
detailed map + compass
flashlight / headlamp + spare batteries
first aid kit
Camp pot set
Waterfilter pump + nalgene (is there going to be water sources where you're hiking?)
lightweight sleeping bag and air mattress, depending on the climate you might be able to get away with one of those camping hammocks instead of a lightweight tent+mattress.
rain poncho/coat
extra socks and underwear
food in a dry bag + rope for hanging the bag if needed.
toiletries + bug spray

for trip 3 I don't think it really matters what you take as you're putting it in a car, take as much as you want lol. I don't really do that kind of camping but you can probably go crazy with those portable grills and coolers and all that jazz

Ill edit this if I think of other things, I'm not going to state the obvious like toilet paper or exactly what food to bring as everyone is different when it comes to food. Just make sure you have some high energy stuff like trail mix to nibble on.

Here's a picture Of some of my camping stuff.

From top to bottom is:
my boonie hat with para cord
MEC ibex 65 bag (the picture doesn't do it justice as its pretty empty and looks deflated.)
trailblazer buck saw
bk7, bk14, and spyderco persistence
the MSR bag has my water filter and purification tablets and a little scrub pad to clean the filter
ugly stik light and a pflueger president xt reel (I also have a second spool for the reel with 6 lb mono on it instead of the braid)
and my leatherman wave.
My sleeping bag, and inflatable mattress fit in that bottom compartment in my bag, (tent can either be put inside on a shorter trip or strapped to the bottom on a longer one for more room) not pictured is my camp pot set, first aid kit etc etc.

Here's a shot of the back of the bag, fully adjustable back, waist, shoulders and height of the back pad can all be moved up or down individually and it comes in 3 torso lengths. I can't say enough good things about this bag or MEC

I prolly won't have much to post in this one with things being a little crazy around here, but I can't wait to see what everyone else posts  :D

This is cake! I would take nothing but my BK13..... Really! I will make a raft, jump on an elks back and slash him thus using him to make a back pack but not all before I ride him to a national park and pet him for three days..... Oh wait is there a certin order we have to do it in? :D

Oldutch, have that bag as well and love it despite the weight. Are you a Canuck or just found a mec? I'll post up when I'm not typing on a phone .

yea, I live in Penetanguishene Ontario, the bag itself isn't the lightest you're right but its really good, the quality is top notch and holds a lot of stuff.

Here's a pic I took last week at the dock, 2 min from my house, I love living in Canada. (sorry it's a bit off topic)
