Trip to New Graham Knives

Over the weekend after Thanksgiving, my wife, our son, and my wife's dad went to Bristol, Virginia to visit some of their relatives. While we were there, we had some time to kill that Saturday, so we drove over to New Graham Pharmacy (and knives!) in Bluefield, Virginia. I'd never been, though I've ordered several knives from their website. The place is nice. It's just a drug store with a grill inside and big glass cases full of knives. If it's on their website, it's there. Not like Smokey Mountain Knife Works, who will often not have an item in the store that is on their website. My son enjoyed a hot dog at the grill, my wife bought some Christmas ornaments and chocolate candy, and I got a Triumph NECK knife. I haven't got to play with it any though, as my wife let the store gift wrap it and she put it under the tree when we got home and said I couldn't open it until Christmas. :grumpy: She got to throw all her new ornaments on the tree and eat her chocolate right away. That ain't fair! Oh well. Women. At least she thought it was fun going to a knife shop, and said we could go back the next time we go see her family in Bristol. New Graham is a nice place. While I was looking at the knives, an employee said "If you need any help, just let me know." Then he left me alone to continue my drooling. I like sales people who don't bother you or try to point you toward what they prefer instead of what you are interested in. If you're ever near Bluefield, you should stop by.

Nice - would like to make a trip one day. Actually any large knife store in the USA would be fine :)

Are New Graham's store prices the same as their online prices?

Funny you mention the fact about their stock. One of the main reasons I buy from NGK over other websites (even the cheaper priced ones) is that their website tells you up front if the item is in stock and how many they have on hand.

I keep trying to find a way to get up there myself. Trying to convince the woman I live with to take a trip that far away to buy knives is difficult.

Melt, glad you enjoyed your visit with us. I waited on you and remember your wife taking your knife away from you to have it wrapped....and that look on your face :D

Daniel...same prices, unless you would like to contribute to my girls college education fund....fully tax deductable, as long as you don't get audited.
Bkultra, I appreciate the support.....
and....Fletch...obviously your woman does not have a bead on the important things in life....Kansas ain't that far from Virginia.

Oh, she'll love the gift shop section, especially at this time of year with all the Christmas stuff they have for sale. My wife did.

Also, the new "NGK TV" weekly broadcast on newgraham.com is neat. Keep making new episodes. I like it.

Lucky you!

I just got my Bradley Alias in the mail from them about two weeks ago.

Enjoy your new neck knife.

I order almost all of my knives from New Graham. I love how they send the band aids with your knife. They really do come in handy.

No, no, no!
I want to hear how bad they are.
How they have no stock, and how the trip isn't a good idea!
That not only won't they let you handle, they won't even let you look.

Glad you and your family had fun. Sounds like a great place. I order a lot of knives from them and the service is always top notch.

Sounds like a place I need to visit!:)

I've been able to get up to that part of the country numerous times for work and always find a way to stop in. The drive up I-77 from I-81 is worth the trip alone. Love to talk to Mike and Mary-Beth and drool over all the pretty sharp things. I took some pictures about two years ago that I'll try to dig up.

What was stated earlier about the entire stock being open for view is one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. Sometimes something catches my eye that online I would have never considered.

Nothing like picking up a couple of knives and getting a chicken salad sandwhich at the lunch counter (if you can find a seat, it's usually pretty crowded).

New to the Forum, and found "New Graham Knives" by looking and listening here. I was prowling their website yesterday, had a question about a particular knife, so decided to call. I spoke with Mr. Dye, who was kind enough to answer any questions I had, and give me good information. He generously shared his time, even though he knew he wasn't going to sell me anything that day (knife I called about back-ordered).
When I get ready to make my knife purchases, I know EXACTLY where I'm going.

That's why they get my business.

New Graham is slowly becoming the Mecca of Knife Knuts. I hope to make my pilgrimage soon. :)

Mike, Annie and Mary Beth are the bomb! Since I've last been in there, I've ordered a few knives from them, and since Mary Beth has to pass my way on her way home, she is nice enough to bring them with her.

These guys are great, and they deserve the kudos they get!

Mecca with a Lunch Counter!
